| Why ftp? Why would someone ftp a file with a separate ftp program instead of using email or a web browser...which almost everyone knows how to use? SPEED. Just wait until someone emails you their favorite picture of themselves and your computer tells you it will take an hour or more to download the picture. The is nothing more frustrating than not be able to get your other email until that picture is downloaded. You will have occasion to download a file via ftp while you're in your web browser. However. with ftp within the browser, you can only download, not upload a file. Windows 95 users can check out various ftp applications by visiting Tucows web site . If other than a Windows 95 user, first go to http://www.tucows.com, and select a country, state, operating system, and then choose ftp applications under the Network Tools heading.
