• Anyone interested in discussing Christmas issues with Santa could subscribe to the listserv.  Let's assume the listserv is named Noel.
• Anyone seeking or providing information about Christmas or behavior could send an email to the Noel listserv.  The software on Santa's server at the North Pole would send this email to everyone that was subscribed to the Noel listserv.
• Anyone that became disinterested in Christmas could just unsubscribe to the Noel listserv.  Then they would never be bothered by discussions of Christmas again.
