Images and graphics can be stored descriptions of a picture or a graphic representation. They are effective enhancements of Web sites. They can create a mood and lend style. Images and graphics can also strengthen an oral report, PowerPoint presentation or term paper.

There are several ways to Find Images
  1. Use Polycat, select key word search, enter relevant key words along with the phrase "pictorial works"
  2. Go to the Reference Department in the Library and ask a librarian for assistance.

Evaluate the Image
  • Is the image relevant to your topic?
    Is the image directed toward a general audience?
    Is the image directed toward a specialized audience?
  • Is the image timely?
    Is the image current enough for your project?
  • Is the information reliable?
    Is the author/producer of the information given?
    Are the credentials of the author/producer of the information given?
    Did the information come from an "authoritative source?
  • Is the image complete?
    Does the image extensively cover your topic?
