Abstract:

Dataflow architectures have not yet been sucessfully applied to the circuit simulation problem, although they have proven in numerous application to be superior to conventional parallel architectures. This paper presents bondgraph execution (BEX) as a new algorithm for circuit simulation, suitable for multiprocessor implementation but particularly tailored to dataflow architectures.BEX compiles a circuit based on its bondgraph model into a highly parallel dataflowgraph and computes this dataflowgraph for circuit simulation based on a levelized nonlinear Gauss Seidel scheme. Contrary to other relaxation circuit simulators. BEX is not restricted to a nodal formulation and ties signal flow not only to voltage changes at nodes but also to current changes in meshes.
