Chemnitz FEM Symposia
FEM Symposia previously took place in Chemnitz in 1978, 1981, 1984, 1987,
and 1990, after which the tradition of these comparably large meetings
(about 200 participants in 1990) was discontinued.
Instead, smaller workshops with a limited scope were organised annually
between 1992 and 1995.
In 1997 we decided to call these annual meetings FEM Symposia once
more, but to announce them with a limited scope.
The scientific topics were:
 |
1997
- Parallel algorithms in solid mechanics
- Parallel solvers for finite element equations
- Models in structural mechanics
- Mortar elements in domain decomposition
- Anisotropic discretizations
|
 |
1998
- Parallel adaptive methods
- Error estimation
- Mesh refinement
- Load balancing
- Applications in fluid mechanics
|
 |
1999
- Solvers of finite element equations
- Applications in structural mechanics
- p- and hp-versions of the f.e.m.
- Implementation on parallel computers
|
While the 1992-1999 symposia were announced as German meetings,
from 2000 we will hold international meetings with English as the
official language. |
