We were notified that Joe Barker, former Head of Acquisitions at UC-Berkeley, due to changes in UC-Berkeley's organizational structure, would no longer be participating in acquisitions-related activities. While the Editorial Board of ACQNET, as well as other professional organizations Joe has been involved in over the years, will feel the loss of his valuable contributions, we wish him the best in his new endeavors, whatever they may be. Joe was a founding member of ACQNET and has been a guiding light in many areas of acquisitions work. While attending ALA, members of the ACQNET Editorial Board met to discuss the above change as well as other issues that will be covered in subsequent ACQNET issues. We are pleased to announce that Peter Stevens, Head of the Acquisitions Division of the University of Washington Libraries, has agreed to join the Editorial Board. Peter has been an active subscriber of ACQNET since its inception. He recently submitted a report to ACQNET on the Feather River Institute and also has developed a web site for his Acquisitions Department. The recent change in the Editorial Board, the creation of a Technical Board, as well as ACQNET's recent affiliation with AcqWeb, compel the Editor to revise the "welcome" screen to new subscribers. This change should be complete within the new few days. As a service to all subscribers, the revised message will be posted as an ACQflash. PLEASE SAVE THIS WHEN IT COMES and refer to it when you wish to post or change your subscription status. As always, if you have ANY question about ACQNET, contact me directly, at COOKEI@APPSTATE.EDU Eleanor Cook, ACQNET Editor (2)------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 22 Jun 1995 09:00:39 -0400 From: Adella Blain (Washtenaw Community College) Subject: American Biographical Institute Located in Raleigh, NC, the American Biographical Institute publishes something called _Two Thousand Notable American Women_.
