Paul Nash, The Mule Track (1919)

Note again the destroyed tree trunk. Again the clouds have a filthy, yellow, poisonous colour and could be gas. The road is fragmented and inconsistent, the perspective is illogical, and the miniaturised animals seem to be falling off the track. The only animated elements are surrounded by gigantic explosions and eruptions.
