We do not know of any program that could do this for us. I would be very interested if anyone hears of such a program. The journal, the Bottom Line, is a good source of information for issues like this. 2) We have a U.K. plan with Stevens and Brown. We struggle with the duplicates problem too. We have several publisher plans that we would like to have a vendor handle (Cambridge, Springer, etc.) but we have had no success of having a vendor willing or able to get everything these publishers publish - whereever they publish. This issue has been a major factor in our decision to stay with these separate plans. It is not efficient in terms of streamlining operations and having to deal with more rather than fewer suppliers. 3. I want to be able to share vendor names. I don't think we do enough of this and with our outstanding editor looking out for nasty statements, I think we can be assured of staying out of trouble. For our purposes, the arrangement has worked well and the user is able to retrieve or find out what the status is of an issue. We use INNOVACQ for serials and bindery control. I personally believe we should not edit vendors, publishers, etc. names from ACQNET. As long as it doesn't turn into bashing I think it would be useful at times. For instance, from PACS-L I have been tipped off about the proposed MEDLINE increase in pricing for networking stations. It is helpful to know specifics rather than having to speculate. It also would also allow organiza- tion and thinking through solutions among ourselves before taking action (e.g. who else is writing letters and what are they saying.
