Date: Mon, 18 Apr 1994 01:15:56 -0400 Before 1990 our Acquisitions unit was called Orders/Pre- Cataloguing. In 1990 the unit was merged with Collections Management under a new name - Acquisitions & Collection Management or ACM for short. This unit then handled all Collection Management functions and Acquisitions and Processing, and later the electronic library called "Telelibrary." From the beginning of this year Inter-Library Loans was added to our unit and we are now searching for a new name. I am considering passing on Eleanor Cook's "M.A.P." (Materials Acquisitions and Processing) to my Superiors for addition to the pool! (I hope she doesn't mind.) [She doesn't - ed.] Here are a couple of names we have suggested to our Library Administration: 1) Collection Development & Document Delivery (CODDEL) 2) Information Resources Management (IRM) 3) Information Resources Development & Management (IRDM) 4) Collection Management, Acquisitions and Document Delivery (COMANDD) 5) Collection Management & Document Delivery (CMDD) Which would you choose and why? Please let us know. (2)---------------------------------------------------------------- From: Tana Hardin (Kansas City Public Library) Subject: Out-of-print resources Date: Fri, 22 Apr 1994 10:28:09 -0400 Perhaps this topic has been addressed on ACQNET before, but Janice Lindquist's recent request for specialty OP resources parallels my concern about locating and dealing with OP resources in general. We are a public library and seldom need out-of-print resources; as a result, we don't have a familiarity with them and the best way to proceed. I would like to hear about specific OP resources other libraries are using successfully, types of materials they specialize in, and procedural matters such as requirements for written PO's, phone orders, length of cancella- tion periods before trying other resources, etc. Thanks for any help that you can give me! (3)---------------------------------------------------------------- From: Dennis Gibbons (Texas Christian University) Subject: Territory Titles Date: Mon, 25 Apr 1994 10:04:49 -0400> Has anyone done business with a book distributor in Albuquerque called Territory Titles? I have ordered about $1,000 worth of books from them. My fiscal year will probably end before the books arrive, and I am thinking about prepaying the order. Having no prior knowledge of the company, I am hesitant to send them $1,000 on faith. Can anyone give them a good reference?
