!!!ALL THE CLICHES ARE PERTINENT TO US IN OUR ROLE AS SCIENTIFIC LIBRARIANS!!!
We DO live in a time when our work becomes more challenging every day;
PAM and PAMnet are good examples of the outcome of the 'shrinking' global community (shown by the number of countries represented);
Our organisations ARE amalgamating/merging/downsizing;
CO-OPERATION and COMMUNICATION (especially between isolated specialists) is becoming important for our very survival.
It enables us to assist library users by:
keeping up-to-date with recent technology, discoveries, general information
AND keeping a sense of humour (to help retain our sanity).
Therefore, during the next couple of years the committee hopes build on the expertise already established by PAM and the European Group of Astronomy Libraries (EGAL). We will use the networks and the spirit of co-operation which have been established through the European and the American continents to extend into the developing Asia/Pacific region.
Please DO contact any of the members of the committee if you have any suggestions, wish to express any concerns, or just for the heck of it!
We look forward to your involvement too.
The current members of PAM's International Relations Committee are:
