Cell References

If you want to use the same formula several times in your worksheet, you can save time by copying the formula.

  1. Click the cell containing the formula you want to copy.
  2. Position the mouse over the bottom right corner of the cell.
  3. Drag the mouse over the cells you want to receive a copy of the formula.
  4. The result of the formulas appear.

 

Relative Cell References
A cell reference that changes when you copy a formula.

 

Absolute Cell References
A cell reference that does not change when you copy a formula. To make a cell absolute you use the $ before both the column letter and row number.

Example: $A$4
