Y2K: The Problem Defined As we go from 1999, represented as "99", to 2000, represented as "00", computer systems may misinterpret the "00" as 1900 rather than 2000. The "00" may also be interpreted as an error, and cause the system to stop running, or give bad data. Another software problem associated to the year 2000 is that it is a leap year, so this will cancel out the day of the week in some programs. Why did this problem arise?
