Changing the sequence of fields: Example

If the bibliographic record contains:

Overtyping Data Within an Existing Field: Example

Can be changed to:

by typing over the data in the existing field.

Note, however, that if the correction would result in the field extending beyond the existing line, a different editing method must be selected.


Inserting Data Within an Existing Field: Example

Delete " |a " from the field:

Insert additional information until the line is full:

Press ENTER with SAME in the command line, to force an additional line:

Press INSERT again to place the terminal in insert mode. Continue typing the correction to the field:


Adding to the End of an Existing Field: Example

Note: Add a space before the data, if necessary. Keep in mind that ending punctuation from the original field may have to be removed after the data has been added to the end of the field, as in the example above.
