Re-Linking an Item Record
This section describes how to relink an item record from one copy holdings
statement to another copy holdings statement.
- Display the copy holdings record containing the copy holdings statement to
which the item record is to be relinked. Example
- Type keep over "DONE" or "MORE" on the command line, a space, and the copy control number of the copy holdings statement to which the item record is to be relinked. Do not type the leading zeroes in the copy control number; press ENTER. (For example: LTCU keep 1). The system retains the copy control number for use later in relinking the item record, and displays the following message: LINK INFORMATION KEPT
- Display the copy holdings record containing the copy holdings statement from which the item record is to be unlinked. Example
- Determine the copy control number of the copy holdings statement from which the item record is to be unlinked. [In the prior example, copy holdings
statement 3 contains the item record which is to be unlinked].
- Display the item record to be relinked. Example
- On the item screen, following LTCU on the command line, type link and press ENTER. The system displays a RELINK ITEM RECORD screen, the message "RELINK IN PROCESS", and the record ID of the record to be relinked.
- Press ENTER with done on the command line. The system responds with the message: ITEM RECORD RELINKED. If there is more than one item record linked to a copy holdings statement, repeat the above instructions until all items have been relinked.
- After all item records have been relinked, redisplay the copy holdings record containing the copy holdings statement from which the item record has been unlinked. Note that the copy statement still indicates that an item record(s) is linked to the copy. Example
- Following LTCU on the command line, type summ, space, hyphen, space, and the copy control number (e.g., "summ - 1") and press ENTER to display the item summary screen.
- Do not change anything on the item summary screen; just press ENTER with done on the command line. The system responds with the message "RECORD NOT MODIFIED", which is misleading because the item record count has been updated by this process.
- Redisplay the copy holdings record to be deleted to confirm that the item record has been deleted. Example Note: If an item record is still linked to the copy holdings statement, repeat the steps in this section.
