Point-to-Point

• Robin Cover's SGML Web Page provides access to World Wide Web, GOPHER, and FTP servers containing resources for SGML, including a lists of projects, software, and standards documents. The home page itself offers a hierarchical classification of the pointers in the form of a sequence of tables of contents as well as annotations of the resources which the addresses identify.

• webCATS links users to web-accessible public-access library catalogues. The site offers browsable indexes by geography, vendor, and type of library (e.g., law, medical, college and university).

• The HyperLib Toolkit is now available in the public domain. HyperLib, a joint project of Loughborough University (UK) and the University of Antwerp (B), is sponsored by the European Community (EC) funded project of the Loughborough University (UK) and the University of Antwerp. The toolkit allows users to author documents in SGML and then convert them to HTML; an SGML editor is not included in the toolkit.

• Three technical white papers have been added to the IBM Digital Library. One, "Digital Intellectual Property - Protecting Everyone's Interests," by Henry M. Gladney and Michel Bezy, discusses technological issues associated with managing intellectual property interests. A second paper, "Toward on-line, worldwide access to Vatican Library materials," by F. C. Mintzer, L. E. Boyle, A. N. Cazes, B. S. Christian, S. C. Cox, F. P. Giordano, H. M. Gladney, J. C. Lee, M. L. Kelmanson, A. C. Lirani, K. A. Magerlein, A. M. B. Pavani, and F. Schiattarella, describes IBM's recent work with the collections of the Vatican Library. The third paper is Michel Bezy's "Digital Libraries for Intellectual Properties," which addresses some of the issues specific to business data.

• Rettig on Reference, a service of H. W. Wilson, provides monthly reviews of new reference books and Internet-based reference sources with particular reference to librarians and researchers in North America. The site is indexed by title or may be browsed by month-by-month.

• The Proceedings of the Seminar on Electronic Publishing, which was organized by the Nordic Centre of Excellence for Electronic Publishing (NordEP) and held on June 11, 1996, are now available at: http://www.vtt.fi/inf/nordep/proceedings/epsem96/ohjelma.htm. Among the topics in the papers covered are trends in scholarly publishing and payment models. Several papers also provide access to projects and services in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland.
