Member Countries Sorted by Groups

A country adheres in one of five groups I-V. A country adhering in Group I, II, III, IV, or V has, respectively, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 votes in mail ballots and in the IMU General Assembly. Countries in Groups I, II, III, IV, and V make annual financial contributions to IMU in the proportions 1:2:4:7:10. The following countries are members of the International Mathematical Union

Instructions for a Country that wishes to become a member of IMU

The country interested in becoming a member of the International Mathematical Union, shall send to the Secretary of IMU, a sample of activities in mathematics, specially concerning research, as well as a sample of research papers published in international journals by the country mathematicians in the last 10 years or so. After that, the Secretary of IMU shall present the case to its Executive Committee, and after that, the final decision depends on the ``Postal Ballot'' that we have to send to all country members.
